Coolie starring actor Rajinikanth in the lead in an upcoming Sun Pictures production, the marks the reunion of the hit Jailer combo Rajinikanth-Anirudh Ravichander (music composer)-Sun Pictures. Coolie also marks the maiden union of writer, director Lokesh Kanagaraj with Rajini and the production house. Latest update on this film is that actor Sathyaraj plays Rajinikanth's friend in Coolie, which marks the duo's reunion 38 years since the iconic Mr. Bharat (1986).  

Mr. Bharat saw Sathyaraj, who in real life in four years younger than Rajinikanth, play the Superstar's father in the movie. Despite the role giving Sathyaraj a big break at that time, the actor never went on to join forces with Rajini again till Coolie. 

Tamil film circles have witnessed an underlying tension for three decades, with Sathyaraj taking several jibes at Rajini for being non-Tamil, Kannadiga, "an outsider", even though it was Rajinikanth who recommended Sathyaraj for his father's role in Mr. Bharat, which is the Tamil adaptation of the Amitabh Bachchan starrer Trishul (1978). 

With time, wisdom and age, this feud ran its course and Sathyaraj too has been witnessed directly stating that he respects Rajinikanth in several interviews. With Coolie marking the reunion of the two veterans, Tamil cine audience cannot be but excited at the moment.
