Star written and directed by Elan is an upcoming drama starring actor Kavin in the lead, and the film is scheduled to release in theaters on May 10, 2024. Star had a trailer release last week which showcased the struggles of an aspiring actor, played phenomenally by Kavin. 

On Thursday, the team held a press meet in lieu of the film's release and director Elan revealed that the movie is a tribute to the real life journey of his father, who is a still photographer, and got his first big break only at the age of 55.

Elan has also said at the Star press meet that the film is a 'look back' into his personal journey as a filmmaker, and his perspective of the tough phases he has crossed in his life. Prior to the press meet, while promoting the release of Star, Elan had said in an interview that his dream collaboration is 'Superstar' Rajinikanth. 

"Rajini Sir is an all time favourite, there is no two thoughts about it", said Elan. The filmmaker further said that in the event of getting a call from the Superstar after watching Star, he even has prepped on what to say to the senior most lead actor.

"That (getting a call from Rajinikanth) is a dream moment...I hope and believe it will happen one day. Because Rajini Sir not just watches movies, he calls and appreciates (the team) if he likes the movie. I have played this moment a lot of times in my head. I am waiting for it, I even have prepared what all to speak at that moment", concluded Elan.
