Tamil film industry's veteran music composer Ilaiyaraaja, who also goes by 'Isaignani' and music 'Maestro', is getting a biopic movie made on him. Titled Ilaiyaraaja, the biopic film stars Dhanush in the lead, has screenplay by Kamal Haasan and will be directed by Captain Miller (2024) fame Arun Matheswaran.  

Given most of Ilaiyaraaja's family members including brother Gangai Amaran, sons Karthik Raaja, Yuvan Shankar Raaja, daughter Bhavathaarini (late), nephews Venkat Prabhu, Premgi Amaren, are very well known names in the Tamil film industry, all eyes are on the cast of Ilaiyaraaja. 

Composer Ilaiyaraaja's close associations with iconic names like SP Balasubrahmanyam, and other veterans have also piqued interest on which actors will be roped into play these famous names. At this time, buzz has it that several senior Kollywood stars including Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan will be seen in a cameo in the movie. 

If true, then this will be the first Dhanush movie where Superstar Rajinikanth will be making a cameo. Previously Rajinikanth had played the lead under Dhanush's production Kaala (2018). And at the audio launch of Lal Salaam (2024), Rajinikanth revealed that Dhanush had narrated 2-3 'good scripts' to direct him, but the Superstar's then-policy of avoiding being directed by family members, had prevented the Dhanush-Rajinikanth combo from happening.
