A self-titled biopic film on Tamil film industry's music maestro Ilaiyaraaja, was launched with actor Dhanush in the lead recently. While Captain Miller director Arun Matheswaran is helming Ilaiyaraaja, latest update is the actor, politician Kamal Haasan has written the screenplay for the film.

Kamal Haasan was present at the Ilaiyaraaja film launch event; however Kamal Haasan's part in the Ilaiyaraaja movie has been revealed at veteran director Singeetham Seenivas's movie screening event. 

Kamal Haasan is going to write the screenplay for Maestro Ilaiyaraaja's biopic.

Ilaiyaraaja is scheduled to release in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi languages. A production venture of Connekkt Media, PK Prime Production and Mercuri Movies, the movie has Ilaiyaraaja for music, Nirav Shah for cinematography, and Muthu Raj for production design.
