Back in October, 2023 we had reported that Dhanush will be starring in the biopic of music maestro Ilaiyaraaja, who is a multiple award winning veteran in the Indian film music scene.  The following month, this team-up was officially confirmed, and that Connekt Media and Mercuri will be the banners jointly producing the movie.

Latest on this Ilaiyaraaja biopic is that Arun Matheswaran will be directing this project. Known for violence-rich movies like Rocky (2021), Saani Kaayidham (2022), Captain Miller (2024), writer, filmmaker Arun Matheswaran is expected to begin scripting for the Dhanush starrer soon. The Ilaiyaraaja biopic will be the second film for the Dhanush, Arun Matheswaran combo after Captain Miller.  

An official announcement on the Ilaiyaraaja biopic from November, 2023 suggests that the movie is expected to begin shooting in October, 2024 and plans to release by mid-2025.
