Lal Salaam starring Tamil actors Vishnu Vishal, Vikranth in the lead is releasing tomorrow i.e. February 9, 2024, and all eyes are on it owing to 'Superstar' Rajinikanth's special appearance in the film. Here are five reasons why Lal Salaam should be watched in theaters on the big screen:
1. Subject/Story: It is an undeniable fact that hate factories in India have been successful in disrupting the communal harmony in the past decade, especially with respect to religion. Deradicalization is the need of the hour, and Lal Salaam is a film that is custom made for this swayed audience. Lal Salaam is based around cricket, and how a trivial incident in the sport creates a Hindu Vs Muslim ruckus in rural Tamil Nadu, is what the movie is about.
"The film (Lal Salaam) has a bold message that needs to reach everyone. When I was working across South Tamil Nadu, I understood that the people resonated with this message but weren't willing to convey it openly. If they are able to do so after watching my film, I would be happy." - director Aishwarya Rajinikanth to Indian Express
2. Rajinikanth: Lal Salaam is expected to be a treat for Rajinikanth's audience, since the star actor's 'extended cameo' is expected to be an hour long. This in a film with a runtime of 2 hours and 52 minutes. Rajini is also returning as a Mumbai-based Muslim gangster (type), which is a throwback to one of the actor's iconic personas - Manik Baashha (from the 1999 film Baashha).
3. AR Rahman: A.R. Rahman's music for Lal Salaam is a definite standout. A testament to the same is how the Grammy winning musician brought Deva, composer of Baashha for the 'Moideen Bhai' anthem that is Anbalane. All five songs from Lal Salaam have meticulously encapsulated the film's themes, and look quite promising for the movie.
4. Vishnu Vishal, Vikranth: Vishnu Vishal is a name who is associated with interesting subjects, and interesting sports subjects. Both Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth have been cricket players in real life and Lal Salaam is expected to come with some authentic portrayal from the two.
5. Other: Even for a film of Lal Salaam's size, the production value of the movie looks neat. Several veteran actors who are no longer seen on the big screen are part of this movie and if anything Lal Salaam promises a strong whiff of nostalgia with its supporting cast and cricketer Kapil Dev's cameo.
