Mani Ratnam's next directorial, featuring Vijay Sethupathi and Sai Pallavi, has officially gone on floors. Sources close to the production confirm that the cast attended a workshop in Chennai over the past few days before heading to Kolkata, where filming began on Friday. Videos of a clean-shaven Vijay Sethupathi at the airport had been circulating since Thursday, hinting at the development.
The yet-to-be-titled film, tentatively referred to as Production No. 23, is backed by Madras Talkies, Lyca Productions and India Talkies, with AR Rahman composing the music. Genre, plot and further cast details remain undisclosed.
The film reunites Vijay Sethupathi with Mani Ratnam after Chekka Chivantha Vanam and marks Sai Pallavi's first collaboration with both the director and the actor.
