Meesaya Murukku 2 has been officially announced for a September 25 theatrical release worldwide, nine years after the original became a commercial hit. Director-actor-composer Hiphop Tamizha Adhi shared a brief glimpse of his character alongside the announcement, with the video teasing the film's music and supporting cast and inviting audiences to experience a "concert in theatres."

In the clip, Adhi's character delivers a spirited line: "It does not matter whether I win or lose, but I will keep fighting till the end. Even if I lose, I would lose by twirling my mustache."

On Meesaya Murukku's ninth anniversary, Adhi had said, "What started as a dream became an emotion for millions. Now it's time to relive the magic with Meesaya Murukku 2."

The sequel features Chaithra Achar, Ketika Sharma, Ramya Ranganathan, Nasser, Aadukalam Naren, Karunaas and Sha Ra alongside Adhi, who also writes, directs, composes and pens lyrics for the film. Produced by Khushbu Sundar under Avni Movies in association with Benzz Media, the film is Adhi's first release since 2024's Kadaisi Ulaga Por.
