Actor Rajinikanth is currently shooting around Southern Tamil Nadu for his upcoming movie Vettaiyan, which is written and directed by TJ Gnanavel and backed by Lyca Productions. The 73 year old Superstar has cancelled today's shoot that was scheduled to take place in Nagercoil, after the shocking news of 71 year old actor politician Vijayakanth surfaced. Rajini and Vijayakanth have been peers since the 1980s, and despite their political differences, have maintained cordial relationship with one another.

Rajini is taking a flight back to Chennai, to be able to pay his last respects to Vijayakanth who died of pneumonia, covid-19 and other prolonged health complications on Thursday.
