Irandam Ulagam Box Office at Overseas

The combined box office numbers of Irandam Ulagam and Varna(Telugu) for USA and Canada are now estimated at $64,700 from 83 screens until Sunday night. This equates to roughly Rs.40 Lakhs in Indian Rupees. The per screen average is roughly $780/- per location. After paying the theatrical rents (almost 50%), shipping and logistic expenses, the movie will hardly be able to recover the print costs. The premiere show opening was luke-warm with  box office collection of just under $12,000 and $5,000 for Irandam Ulagam and Varna respectively on Thursday.

To put these numbers in perspective, recently released Ajith starrer Arrambam, had collected almost 6 times more revenue from Tamil alone while releasing roughly in the same number of prints all over the USA. The overseas rights of Varna and Irandam Ulagam were released in the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand through the popular Telugu distribution house, Blue Sky.
