" The tribes in the film have not acted, they have lived" - 'Superstar' Rajinikanth made this observation while praising Jigarthanda DoubleX written, directed and co-produced by Karthik Subbaraj. Jigarthanda DoubleX movie which released in theaters on November 10, 2023, is set in 1970s Tamil Nadu. A portion of the plot showcases how local tribals who reside in hill stations are tortured by both the police and the animal-poaching mafia. 

Karthik Subbaraj who shot these portions in Thandikudi panchayat of Kodaikanal, seems to have used locals from the regions as actors in his film. The filmmaker who is currently receiving rave reviews for his first theatrical release in the last 4 years, has now updated that he caught a screening of Jigarthanda DoubleX with all of these actors in a theater.

Jigarthanda DoubleX starring Raghava Lawrence, SJ Suryah, Nimisha Sajayan, Naveen Chandra, Vidhu among others completes a week of theatrical run today. The movie has Tirru for cinematography and Santhosh Narayanan for music.
