[Updated//November 15, 2023] Jigarthanda DoubleX is a Tamil period action comedy that released in multiple languages PAN India on November 10, 2023. The movie has been received extremely well among the Tamil cine audience worldwide, and filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj who wrote, directed and produced the movie has been at the receiving end of high praise from all corners. 

Karthik Subbaraj makes no secret of the fact that he is a hardcore Rajinikanth fan, and the director has even worked with the Superstar in the 2019 hit movie Petta. So while the filmmaker was being praised by K-town celebrties on X, fans were waiting for an update on the customary Rajinikanth call, the star is known to make after watching every good film in Kollywood. 

Instead, Rajinikanth went a step ahead for his dedicated fan and sent him a long letter in Tamil. Karthik Subbaraj uploaded the same on his X page, and wrote:

English translation of Rajinikanth's letter to Karthik Subbaraj in praise of Jigarthanda DoubleX:   

"Jigarthanda DoubleX movie a Kurinji malar (a shrub flower that blossoms only once every 12 years in the Kodaikanal region in South India. When it does, there is lots of excitement and people travel from all over the world to see this flower. Used here as a metaphor for a rare celebratory phenomenon). (It's) A wonderful work by Karthik Subbaraj. Different story and plot. (The movie comes with) New scenes that cinema fans have never seen before. Can (Raghava) Lawrence act like this too..? It makes us wonder in surprise. S.J. Suryah is the Nadigavel (translates to King of acting, it is a title given to late M.R. Radha for his acting prowess) of today's (Tamil) film industry. He has mixed and excelled in the combination of villainy, comedy and character.

(Cinematographer) Tirru's camera has played. Art director's [production designer T Santanam] work is commendable.' (Stunt director) Dhilip Subbrayan's fight scenes are awesome. Santhosh Narayanan is the king of composing different (/offbeat) music for different (/offbeat) films. By bringing this film to life with music, he proves that he is a master music composer in this film.

 

My special compliments to the producer (Kaarthekeyan Santhanam from Karthik Subbaraj's Stone Bench Films, S. Kathiresan's Five Star Creations, Invenio Origin) who has made this film so magnificently. The tribes in the film have not acted, they have lived. In competition with the actors, the elephants have also acted. No amount of praise is enough for Mr. Vidhu (Petta, Navarasa) who has acted as Shettani (name of the elephant poacher character in Jigarthanda DoubleX). Wonderful.
