A spiritual successor to Karthik Subbaraj's acclaimed 2014 hit, Jigarthanda DoubleX is all set to release in theaters on November 10, 2023 for the Diwali weekend. At this time Karthik Subbaraj who has written, produced and directed the movie has updated that overseas bookings are now open for Jigarthanda DoubleX, which stars Raghava Lawrence as a gangster who is also an ardent Clint Eastwood fan and SJ Suryah as renowned director Satyajit Ray's assistant.

Set in 1975 before the real life Rajinikanth debuted as Indian cinema's first dark-skinned actor, Jigarthanda DoubleX follows a Madurai-based notorious gangster named Pandiyan (Raghava Lawrence) who is hell-bent on becoming India's first dusky hero. He employs budding filmmaker Ray Dasan (SJ Suryah) who has worked under the renowned Satyajit Ray but doesn't know what making a movie with Pandiyan entails.
Also starring Shine Tom Chacko, Nimisha Sajayan among others, Jigarthanda DoubleX comes with a runtime of 172 minutes and is scheduled to release in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada languages. The movie has Santhosh Narayanan for music, S. Thirunavukkarasu for cinematography and Shafique Mohamed Ali for the edits.
