[Updated: November 6, 2023] Writer, director Karthik Subbaraj's last theatrical release was Petta starring Rajinikanth in 2019. Ever since Karthik Subbraj directorials, be it feature films or otherwise have only been direct OTT releases. Jigarthanda DoubleX - A Pandyaa Western Story, written, produced and directed by Karthik Subbraraj is all set for a November 10, 2023 release this Diwali. At this time, the trailer of Jigarthanda DoubleX starring Raghava Lawrence, SJ Suryah has released.

The less than 3-minute video takes us to 1975, where in true Jigarthanda (2014)-world fashion a dreaded gangster (Raghava Lawrence), who is also silver-screen ambitious employs a filmmaker (SJ Suryah) to make a movie with him. This gangster character is supposedly on the way to become the 'first dark-skinned hero' (An ode to Rajinikanth?), whereas the filmmaker's feet is in more depth of waters than he anticipated.     

How this duo of misfits come about finding their true calling, while facing what fate has in store for each of them is what seems to be the rest of Jigarthanda DoubleX. Telugu actor Naveen Chandra plays a cop cum villain in this story. The movie also stars Nimisha Sajayan, Shine Tom Chacko, Sathyan, Aravind Akash, Ilavarasu, Bigg Boss Tamil 7 fame Bava Chelladurai among others.

Think Music holds the audio rights to Jigarthandaa DoubleX while Netflix and Sun TV hold the OTT and satellite rights respectively. The U/A censored movie is being presented by Red Giant Movies, 5 Star Creations and Jnvenio Origion, and comes with a runtime of 2 hours 52 minutes.
