Kolaveri fame Anirudh was initially considered to be the Music Director for Mayakkam Enna before Selvaraghavan opted to go with GV Prakash for business reasons. However, during the discussion stages, Anirudh had reportedly created a number of scratch songs for Selvaraghavan to consider for Mayakkam Enna. The sources at recording studios say that one of those scratch songs provided by Anirudh eventually took shape to become the hit song "Voda Voda". 

So, it is quite natural if people sensed noticeable similarities in the composition and music styles between "Voda Voda" and "Kolaveri".

One may remember similar story broke out when GV Prakash's "un mela aasathan" from Ayirathil Oruvan and "adadaa vaa asathalam" after Selva parted ways with Yuvan.
