Gangster action thriller Leo starring 'Thalapathy' Vijay in the lead has become the highest grossing movie for its lead star in the UK. Ahimsa Entertainment, distributors of Leo in the region have officially confirmed that Leo has grossed £1.24 million [Rs. 12. 63 Cr] in the opening weekend (4 days), with UK contributing £1.16 million and Ireland £79.4 K. This is not only the highest opening weekend box-office number for a Vijay film, but also a Tamil film in the region.

Previously Leo was termed the fastest Indian film to reach the £1 million benchmark in the UK. At £1.07 million (£1.02 million in UK and  £52.K in Ireland ) in 3 days of release, Leo was the first Vijay film to achieve this feat.
