Actor Vijay's Leo which is an upcoming gangster action thriller directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj is all set to release in theaters in 3 days i.e. on October 19, 2023 [Thursday]. Due to the Dussehra holiday season and Tamil Nadu's strict limits for movie theaters in screening shows, the state government has issued special permission which allows cinema halls across the state to screen 5 shows per day between October 19 - October 24.
This means that the first day first show (FDFS) of Leo in Tamil Nadu will begin at 9 AM [details]. 7 Screen Studios, produce of Leo recently moved Madras High Court seeking permission for a special 4 AM shows on release day i.e. October 19, and a time limit of 7 AM onwards for the 6 days theaters have been permitted to screen 5 shows per day i.e. October 19, 2023 to October 24, 2023.
On Monday i.e. October 16, Senior Counsel Srinath Sridevan, representing 7 Screen Studios told the Madras High Court that the reason they are asking for the shows to begin at 7 AM is because 'it is impossible' to screen 5 shows of a 163 minute-long movie with a mandatory 20-minute interval, and a 30-minute break between shows, between 9 AM - 1: 30 AM. He said that the release day request for a 4 AM show is only fair since Leo premieres at that time in other states.
The Madras High Court has adjourned the hearing to tomorrow i.e. October 17, 2023 [Tuesday].

[October 17, 2023: Update] The Madras High Court has denied permission for screening 4 AM shows on October 19, 2023. They have also asked that Tamil Nadu government to consider allowing 7 AM shows from October 19 - October 24. However it seems unlikely that the government will grant this permission.
