Actor Karthi currently has one movie in the pipeline titled Japan, and his next Karthi 27 (tentative title) will be a production venture of Suriya and Jyotika's 2D Entertainment. 96 (2018) fame Premkumar is directing Karthi 27, with Govind Vasantha composing music, and actor Arvind Swami in a pivotal role.

At this time, it has been officially revealed that cinematographer PC Sreeram is on-board Karthi 27. The official handle of 2D Entertainment has re-tweeted PC Sreeram's confirmation  about Karthi 27, and actor Karthi himself has also responded by stating that he is honoured to work with PC Sreeram.
