Indian 2 starring Kamal Haasan in the lead is a vigilante action thriller sequel to the 1996 hit Tamil film Indian. Written and directed by Shankar, the franchise follows a former freedom fighter named Senapathy who frustrated with how corrupt India has become post Independence, punishes those in power by brutally taking their lives. Indian 2 marks the return of this septuagenarian protagonist, who went into exile in film one. 

Indian 2 is all set for a release in theaters this year and Kamal Haasan has now updated via twitter that he got to see a few completed portions of the movie. Impressed by the outcome, he presented filmmaker Shankar an expensive watch, and the director inturn thanked Haasan for the gesture. 

Kamal Haasan wrote, "I saw some of the important scenes of 'Indian 2' today. My heartfelt wishes to Shankar. This alone shouldn’t be your peak. Because currently you are in the peak of your artistic life/career. Do not consider this as your best and soar high with vigour. In search of many new heights." Shankar responded by tweeting,

Indian 2 is jointly produced by Lyca Productions and Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies. The multi-starrer movie has Anirudh for music.
