Actor Dhanush who was the first big star to play lead in a Mari Selvaraj movie, has taken to twitter to give his review of Mari's upcoming release Maamannan. A political thriller starring Udhayanidhi Stalin, Vadivelu, Fahadh Faasil and Keerthy Suresh in the lead, Maamannan releases in theaters worldwide tomorrow i.e. June 29, 2023 and has AR Rahman for music. Dhanush had this to say about the yet-to-release movie:

Udhayanidhi Stalin who is also the producer of the film not only thanked Dhanush for the Maamannan review, but also atrributed a lot more to the actor.

Both Udhay and Mari Selvaraj have spoken about the former wanting to collaborate with the latter ever since the release of Pariyerum Perumal in 2018. That was Mari Selvaraj's debut film as director and soon after release, he had committed to direct Dhanush in Karnan. When Udhay once again approached Mari Selvaraj post Karnan, the director was tied to directing Dhruv Vikram in a Kabbadi biopic.
