Vaadivaasal is a 1940 novella written by CS Chellappa, and this long short-story, which marked the first time that the Tamil traditional sport of Jallikattu aka bull-taming, was highlighted in modern literature of the language, is being adapted into a movie of the same name by National award winning duo - director Vetrimaaran and actor Suriya.

However, post the announcement the project did not take off due to the actor and director's prior commitments. Now the director himself had shared a update about the film. 

Director Vetrimaaran has revealed that the pre-production for the film is progressing now and animatronics work is currently happening in London. A life-size robot is being built using the scan of a bull owned by Suriya. Vaadivaasal will begin soon after Vetrimaaran completes his works for Viduthalai Part 2.
