In the rigveda - one of the four canonical Hindu vedic texts, Asvins refers to twin Gods who represent medicine, health, dawn, and the sciences. A Tamil film titled Asvins is all set to release on June 23, 2023 [Friday], and ironically is a horror drama/found footage thriller that is set around a Youtubers' bunch, who accidentally unleash a 1500-year-old evil to the human world.
The trailer of Asvins is as eerie as it gets and reviews of the special screening held last night suggest that the movie, written and directed by Tarun Teja is eerier. Starring Vasanth Ravi, Vimala Raman, Simran Pareek, Muralidaran, Saraswathi Menon (daughter of cinematographer turned filmmaker Rajiv Menon) among others in it, Asvins is set in London, and is based on the dark tourism theme.
Caught the Press show of #Asvins. Those who know me, know I'm not a fan of horror films, as I don't believe in paying money to get scared. Asvins however, was a very interesting watch, thanks to great acting, powerful sound design and a gripping screenplay. Await detailed review! pic.twitter.com/QhwZOWP8Xx

Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra (SVCC) has produced Asvins, and the film's technical crew includes Sachin Sudhakaran, Hariharan M from Sync Cinemas for sound design (early reviews indicate this to be Asvins' highlight), Vijay Siddharth for music, A M Edwin Sakay for cinematography, Don Bala for production design and Venkat Raajen for edits.
Team #Asvins meets the press ahead of the release on June 23.

A horror-drama with some interesting elements of mythology. pic.twitter.com/Vwg0PomOY3
Sakthi Film Factory is releasing the movie in Tamil Nadu and Netflix holds the post-OTT rights to the film.
