Ponniyin Selvan: Part 2 - the epic sequel to Mani Ratnam directed movies on Kalki Krishnamurthy's story released in theaters worldwide on April 28, 2023 and the had done exceptionally well in terms of box-office. The day 1 worldwide gross of Ponniyin Selvan 2 is estimated to be a whopping Rs. 60 Cr., and despite not having any early morning shows, the film has done phenomenally in its home turf i.e. Tamil Nadu. 

The day 1 Tamil Nadu gross of PS-2 is estimated between Rs. 16 Cr. - Rs. 17 Cr. In its neighbouring state of Kerala, Ponniyin Selvan 2 has grossed Rs. 2.82 Cr, making it the second highest dubbed movie day 1 grosser of 2023. The total India day 1 gross of Ponniyin Selvan: Part 2 is said to be Rs. 27 Cr. 

Ponniyin Selvan: II has also done well in USA; The premiere plus opening day collection so far is estimated at $1.65 million i.e. a huge Rs. 13.5 Cr in gross.
