Viduthalai: Part 1 starring actor Soori in the lead is a period crime thriller based on B. Jeyamohan's short story Thunaivan, which inturn is inspired from the real life Vachathi mass crime incident of 1992. The film written and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Vetrimaaran, highlights the inhumane practices employed by the Indian/ Tamil Nadu police force in areas of high-tension conflicts.

Viduthalai: Part 1 released in theaters on March 31, 2023 and now, the movie is all set for a Telugu version release. In India, Vidudhala Part 1 (Telugu title) will release on April 15, 2023 via producer Allu Aravind's Geetha Film Distribution. Prime Media is releasing the Telugu movie in USA, and it will premiere on April 14, 2023.

Vidudhala Part 1 will focus on an earnest police constable (PC)'s story, who gets posted in a highly conflicted hilly area. The PC (Soori) happens to save and fall in love with one of the women (Bhavani Sre) from the indigenous community in that area. His higher-ups then begin exercising their authority over the people to capture Vaathiyaar (Vijay Sethupathi) - a people's army leader following a train blast incident. And now Soori is left with no option but to pursue Vijay Sethupathi to save his loved one and numerous other lives.
