A major earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale jolted Jammu and Kashmir on the late eveining of Tuesday i.e March 21, 2023. The crew of Tamil film Leo starring actor Vijay in the lead, have been shooting at Kashmir for close to a month now and they have updated that their entire team is safe. A testament to the crew's safety is a light exchange between film's dialogue writer Rathna Kumar, who reinterpreted Leo's tagline - Bloody Sweet with the natural disaster, and the movie's executive producer who quickly shut it down.
We are safe nanba 😇

The epicentre of the earthquake was 40 kilometres south-southeast of the Jurm town in Afghanistan, near the borders with Pakistan and Tajikistan. In India, strong tremors were felt between 45 seconds to 1 minute in not just in Kashmir, but Delhi, National Capital Region (NCR), Haryana, Punjab, and Rajasthan.

Seismically, large parts of South Asia are currently active because a tectonic plate known as the Indian plate, is pushing north into the Eurasian plate. Frequent earthquakes in recent times, are a result of this. In India, there has been no recorded loss to life or damage to property, but a video of doctors in Kashmir successfully completing a surgery amidst all the panic has gone viral.
