Thalapathy 67 actress Priya Anand couldn't do Thuppaki for this reason

Actress Priya Anand had done three films in Tamil by the time she had auditioned and bagged the female lead role in director AR Murugadoss' 2012 release Thuppaki. Priya Anand was supposed to be paired opposite actor Vijay in the film but the role eventually went to Kajal Aggarwal. In 2014, while attending an event for Arimba Nambi which had Priya Anand as female lead, Murugadoss revealed how he had finalized Priya Anand for his movie but she couldn't do it because she was stuck in a snow-blizzard, while shooting for English Vinglish in America.

English Vinglish starred Sridevi in the lead and its Tamil dubbed version had a cameo by actor Ajith which struck off a friendship between the two, and eventually lead to films like Nerkonda Paarvai (2019), Valimai (2022) and Thunivu (2023). Murugadoss had said in 2014,

"We (Priya Anand and AR Murugadoss) had travelled a lot mentally with the script (of Thuppaki).  But she was stuck while shooting for English Vinglish in Canada because of too much snow fall. The disappointment that she couldn't act in Thuppaki is still there. I have done the film in Tamil once and in Hindi again. But even today the audition that Priya Anand did for Thuppaki is what lingers in my mind.. I'll have to work with her soon.."

Priya Anand never got to work with AR Murugadoss or actor Vijay since, until Thalapathy 67. About finally starring alongside Vijay after 12-13 years, the actress has said, "Thrilled to be a part of Thalapathy 67. Looking forward to working with such an incredible cast and crew."
