Rajinikanth's Baba: Things that are different in the re-release

Actor Rajinikanth celebrates his 72nd birthday today and 2 days ahead of his special day, a 20 year old movie written and produced by Rajini re-released in select theaters across the world. Scores of fans who went to watch the Baba re-release in theaters, then took to social media to share their experience of re-watching the movie; They observed that some of the scenes and dialogues were edited out to fit in Rajinikanth quitting politics, and what he would like the takeaway message of the film to be instead.

One Twitter user in particular made a list of all the edits and removed scenes and tweeted them out with how they were in the original. Baba re-released in theaters on December 10, 2022 and is said to have collected Rs. 1.4 Cr. on day 1 worldwide. Viewership seems to have slowed down on December 11 considering heavy rains that have been haunting several parts of Tamil Nadu due to cyclone Mandous.

Baba originally released on August 15, 2022 and had undertones of Rajinikanth's political ambitions. The remastered version of the movie which has AR Rahman for music, retains the spiritual nature of the movie but removes all forms of disrespectful jest; The ultimate message of the movie has also been changed to 'Keep your mother happy'.
