Director Lokesh Kanagaraj has confirmed for a while now that his next directorial is with actor Vijay, which tentatively goes by the title Thalapathy 67. The movie has been revealed to be a gangster drama with Vijay playing a 40 year old Mumbai don, much like his character Michael Rayappan from Bigil (2019). Famously, 6 villains are also expected to be part of this movie and among the names in consideration so far - only Mansoor Ali Khan, Sanjay Dutt and actor Vishal are said to have come on board.

Mollywood actors Fahadh Faasil, Prithviraj and Tamil film actor-director Mysskin seem to have left the project due to call sheet and other issues. Mysskin in particular is said to have left Thalapathy 67 due to his new project with actor Vijay Sethupathi and producer Kalaipuli S Thanu's V Creations; The film intends to begin in January, 2023. 

Thalapathy 67 produced by 7 Screen Studio is expected to begin shooting in December, 2022. The digital rights of the movie which is yet to go on floors is said to have been bagged by Netflix for a record price, even at this point.
