Mani Ratnam directed Ponniyin Selvan: Part One (PS-I) released in theaters on September 30, 2022 and the first movie of this two-part historical drama is still going strong at the box-office. PS-I completed three weeks of theatrical run today and at this time, producers Madras Talkies have updated that the movie's world wide gross has crossed Rs. 450 Cr. in collection.

Ponniyin Selvan I is now the second Tamil film with the highest worldwide gross. The top position has been held by Shankar-Rajinikanth's 2.0 since 2018; The movie went on to gross a whopping Rs. 625 Cr. worldwide that year.
Incidentally 2.0 and PS 1 (co-producers) are both ventures of the banner Lyca Productions.
