Karthikeya ia 2014 Telugu mystery thriller written and directed by Chandoo Mondeti that went on to do phenomenally at the Telugu box-office that year. The movie's sequel Karthikeya 2 released on August 13, 2022 and went on to become another sleeper hit. The brand gained popularity post the sequel's release on Zee 5 OTT platform and now the first movie is being remade in Tamil. 

The action adventure film will be helmed in Tamil by Thani Oruvan editor Gopi Krishna, who turns director with this movie. Actor Vetri of 8 Thotakkal (2017), Jiivi movies (2019, 2022) and C/O Kaadhal (2021) fame will be reprising the lead role played by Nikhil Siddhartha in the original.
