Sardar is an upcoming spy action thriller that is all set to release in Tamil, Telugu on October 21, 2022. The film stars Karthi in dual roles of an international spy (father) and a police officer (son) and had its trailer release just last evening. Following the same, there were comparisons on how the film's story sounds quite similar to the Atlee directed Bollywood project Jawan which stars Hindi actor Shah Rukh Khan in the lead.

Ruben who is at the edit table of both these movies hit back at this claim and even encouraged his followers to screen-shot his response to later compare the similarities in both films. Shah Rukh is also said to be playing dual roles of a RAW intelligence father and a gangster son in Jawan, but neither the movie's title announcement video not its first look poster confirm the same.
