2022 has seen an unexpected / unusual hike in the salaries of top tier actors from the Tamil film industry. Remuneration of Kollywood's Tier 1 actors is almost 80% higher than what they got 2 years back. Considering the pandemic and a lull that was seen in the overall business, these figures may seem real high but those within the industry claim that these star movies garners such vast business that it makes their pay sound reasonable.. With big changes let's get into know how much leading stars are get paid as of this year.

1. Rajinikanth - Rs. 120 Cr.

Rajinikanth is the first actor to get a three digit salary as remuneration in Kollywood. However recent films of his did not perform well, so his high remuneration took a dip, especially during Annaathe. Now the actor is said to be taking home approximately Rs. 125 Cr. for his upcoming film Jailer with Sun Pictures and director Nelson Dhilipkumar.

2. Vijay - Rs. 115 Cr.

Vijay is one of those rare stars in Tamil cinema whose market remains unshaken despite COVID (Master) or poor content (Beast). For his current bilingual Varisu/Vaarasudu, Vijay has been offered around Rs. 125 Cr. as remuneration.

3. Ajith - Rs. 105 Cr.

It's a super rise for actor Ajith. It was said that the actor's 3 film deal with Boney Kapoor is valued around Rs. 120 Cr. Now Ajith Kumar has been signed for Rs. 105 Cr. for a single film (Ajith 62) to be directed by Vignesh Shivan and backed by Lyca Productions.

4. Suriya

Actor Suriya's asking price for a movie in 2022 in a whopping Rs. 70 Cr. He was paid Rs 55 Cr for Etharkkum Thunindhavan and is said to have been signed for Rs. 45 Cr. by UV Creations for Suriya 42.

5. Kamal Haasan

Post the mega box-office success of Vikram, Kamal Haasan's market value is estimated to be around Rs. 50 Cr+. However his actual remuneration per movie remains unknown.

6. Sivakarthikeyan - Rs. 35 Cr.

Among the young generation heroes, Sivakarthikeyan is one name who has seen a rapid upward growth in his pay graph, thanks to his back-to-back hits. His last two films are both Tamil-Telugu bilinguals and while he took Rs. 33 Cr. for Prince, he is said to have been paid Rs, 35 Cr. for the yet to release Maaveeran.

7. Dhanush - Rs. 30 Cr.

Dhanush who has been dabbling with all the woods in the movies, has been getting a solid Rs. 30 Cr. per movie irrespective of languages.
