Lyca Productions, producers of Mani Ratnam directed Ponniyin Selvan: Part One (PS-I) have officially announced that the movie's day 1 box-office crosses a whopping Rs. 80 Cr.+ in worldwide gross. PS1 has thus registered the biggest ever opening day for a Tamil movie on a worldwide level. 

In Tamil Nadu, Ponniyin Selvan is among the top 5 openers and has grossed Rs. 26. 7 Cr in total. In Chennai city alone, the movie had collected Rs. 1.3 Cr. on day 1.
