Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu (VTK) is director Gautham Menon's first full length feature release after 3 years and the movie is all set to release in theaters tomorrow. From the promotions to the curiosity surrounding an unexpected subject, buzz for VTK is on an all time high. VTK SWOT analysis follows:

Strengths

• One of the most obvious (and biggest) strengths of VTK is actor Silambarasan TR. The movie is also Simbu's first full length release after his hit outing Maanaadu, and a lot of his fans are looking forward to his acting chops in VTK. 

• Composer AR Rahman is on a roll these days and VTK is one of the albums that has reaped the benefits of his music-high. The songs and background score are expected to be a high point in VTK. 

• Until a few days ago, one rarely expected a two-part gangster movie from Gautham Menon, who is usually synonymous with romance and cop-action. This genre-shift has created quite the anticipation for the film. 

• And as with any Gautham Menon movie, viewer satisfaction with factors like performances and other technical aspects are a given. 

Weakness

• Gautham Menon films in general are medium paced and Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu has been amply advertised as a slow-burn movie. Added to this, VTK comes with a runtime of close to 3 hours. These factors are usually known to leave viewers divided on Gautham Menon movies. 

Opportunities

• VTK is releasing at a time, when the Tamil box-office is wide open for taking. The last known theatrical release to do well in the language is Dhanush's Thiruchitrambalam, and that movie is already nearing close to 1 month of run. 

• Promotional hype for VTK has ensured that the film's early morning shows are fully booked. If good word-of-mouth prevails, VTK has a chance to register a big opening number among Tamil releases. 

• It has been years since Gautham Menon delivered a solid hit. VTK could work as the most awaited comeback for the director. 

• While Maanaadu was a multi-starrer hit, VTK is a Silambarasan TR show and could work wonders for the actor if clicked well. 

Threats 

• Opening day word-of-mouth (WOM) holds a lot of leverage for any movie these days. VTK additionally is releasing on a weekday, as a prequel and with no other holidays following up.
