Natchathiram Nagargiradhu Songs Music Review
Ramesh S Kannan
Natchathiram Nagargiradhu is an upcoming musical film directed by Ranjith with Kalidas Jayaram, Kalaiyarasan, and Dushara Vijayan in the lead role. Pa Ranjith ropes in Tenma instead of his regular Santosh Narayanan. Tenma’s work in Irandam Ulaga Porin Kadaisi Gundu deserves a wider reach and one hopes that Tenma gets his due with his work in this film.
Rangarattinam
Tenma sets the soundtrack's mood with the perfect blend of blues melody and infusion of kuthu in the middle. The battalion of singers in the background is befitted by brilliant arrangements topped by the stupendous rhythm line and some niche usage of MS Krsna's kazoo and Mouth trumpet. It's delightful to see Arivu's expanding the scope of his lyrics with this track.
Paruvame
Paruvame is loaded with techno sounds primarily, but don't miss the brilliant violin solo in the interlude by Chennai Strings. Benny Dayal is fab with his sprightly rendition while Arivu ably brings in the hypnotic soundscape tone with his lyrics as well which perfectly suits the party theme for the track.
Janame
The soundtrack turns into a tectonic shift with Janame, a hard-hitting Oppaari song, and Tenma's terrific build-up with the brooding sound for an initial one and half minutes before the percussion kicks off in the later portion of the song. Uma Devi is the star of the song with her punchy lyrics on honor killing while Muthammal, Suganthi, and Vellore JP Veeramani carry the song with their rustic vocals.
Perinba Kadhal
Perinba Kadhal is another free-flowing track without following any conventional structure of the tune backed by a few lovely arrangements, a special shout-out to Viji's trumpet. Despite Tenma and Ranj's brilliant vocals, the melody takes some time to sink in.
Kadhalar
Tenma did a terrific job in Kadhalar where Uma Devi's curated Sangam verses are concocted into a heady melody backed by explosive vocals of Sidanth Sundar and Kavitha Gopi. After Tenma sets the mood with a calm sound, the singers show their prowess, especially when the song reaches crescendo.
Natchathiram Nagargiradhu
With Natchathiram Nagargiradhu, Tenma ends the soundtrack in style. A sense of calm in the arrangements and the tune makes this a particularly enjoyable track. Tenma showcases the classical tilt in the interludes while Arivu and Sharanya Srinivas aces the melody.
Bottomline
Tenma provides radically different music for Pa Ranjith's film and the soundtrack is packed with peppy experimental sounds supported by Uma Devi and Arivu’s verses.
