Gautham Karthik starrer August 16 1947 is an upcoming periodic drama set against India's Independence and the Tamil film recently had its teaser release, which was unveiled by Gautham's Pathu Thala co-star Silambarasan TR. The video has interestingly attracted a lot of attention for how Mahatma Gandhi was perceived in deep Tamil sects, that had no access to radio, television or even photographs.

August 16 1947 seems to take place just as India was about to become independent from the British rule, and revolves around how the Brits plotted to instill fear in Indians, at the sight of anybody who could speak English for the next 100 years. The movie is written and directed by  N S Ponkumar and filmmaker AR Murugadoss is one of the producers.
