Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies who are bankrolling PS-I have now unveiled a video which clarifies certain misconceptions about the Chola representation. S. Jeyakumar, a researcher on cultural history states that Raja Raja Chola's name is Arunmozhi Varman and not Arulmozhi Varman as believed by many.

S. Ramachandran, a historian further adds that the stone engraves in modern day Sri Lanka suggest that the King's name was Arunmozhi Perumagan which later became Arunmozhi Parumugan, Arunmozhi Parumagan, Arunmozhi Varman and Arunmozhi Perumal over time.

Ramachandran also states that according to the copper plate engravings on Arunmozhi Varman, he graciously let his paternal uncle Uthama Chola (played by actor Rahman) rule the Kingdom for 12-15 years, after learning of his uncle's desire for the throne.
