An action packed teaser of Vaathi (titled Sir in Telugu) was unveiled marking Dhanush's birthday today. The video showcases that Dhanush plays a character named Balamurugan (Balagangadhar Thilak in Telugu), who works as a junior teacher (lecturer in Telugu) at Tirupathi (Tripathi in Telugu) educational institute. There is also a hint of Samuthirakani playing the villainous education mafia, who sends third-grade junior teachers to government schools (colleges in Telugu) so that private institutions can benefit off the quality teaching.

Written and directed by Venky Atluri, the teaser of Vaathi/Sir comes with the description, "Education is more than about books, marks and results. The right mix of chalk and challenges can shape the future generation". The movie also stars Samyuktha Menon, Sai Kumar, Tanikella Bharani, Thotapalli Madhu, Narra Srinivas, Pammi Sai, Hyper Aadhi, Shara, Aadukalam Naren, Ilavarasu, Motta Rajendran, Hareesh Peradi, Praveena among others.
