Mani Ratnam directed Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1 (PS-I) is an upcoming multi-starrer period drama which is gearing up to release in theaters on September 30, 2022. The latest updated about the film is that the makers are planning to unveil the teaser promo video of the film by next week.

The production house even tweeted a motion poster informing about arrival of Cholas (hint on official updates). It has also been officially confirmed that Amazon Prime Video has the post-theatrical OTT rights of the movie.

Produced by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions, Ponniyin Selvan primarily revolves around the three children of King Sundara Chola - Aditya Karikalan (Vikram), Kundavai (Trisha) and Arulmozhi Varman alias Ponniyin Selvan (Jayam Ravi).

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be seen in dual roles of Nandini, the main antagonist of the story and her mother Queen Mandakini, while Karthi plays Vallavaraiyan Vandiyadevan, Trisha's love interest and a trusted aide to Vikram's character.
