We had previously reported that Rajinikanth will be teaming up with Sun Pictures for Thalaivar 169, and that the film will be directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. Latest we hear, Anirudh has joined the team as the project's music composer. Thalaivar 169 is Rajinikanth's second consecutive movie with Sun Pictures after Annaatthe and will be Nelson, Anirudh's after Beast [scheduled for an April release]. 

Pinkvilla reports that Thalaivar 169 begins shooting by end of April or early May this year and plans to release between December, 2022 and February, 2023. MovieCrow also hears that a promo video for film's announcement was shot today with Rajinikanth and team.
