Indian playback singer Lata Mangeshkar, who was dubbed as 'Nightingale of India' passed away this Sunday at 92. Complications due to Cornavirus Covid-19 caused the veteran singer to breathe her last at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai and people from all walks of life including Prime Minister Narendra Modi were seen paying their last respects to her mortal remains.
Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan's presence however raked up an online communal storm, after BJP party's religious watchdogs first accused the actor of 'spitting' on Lata Mangeshkar's mortal remains. Later when it was clarified that the actor only blew as a gesture of warding off the evil according to Islam, he was accused of 'thrusting religion without approval'.
Shahrukh is Spitting! https://t.co/mhX8i7lnNk

If u resist Hindu culture, u have no business imposing urs- least of all on such somber occasion & without family approval!

Will Muslims agree to a Hindu celeb going to a Janaaja of a renowned Muslim artist & sprinkling GangaJal on the taboot. If they will, then it is all ok!
However Twitter was quick to come to Shah Rukh Khan's defense and even went on to gush at a now viral photo of the actor with his manager Pooja Dadlani, who were clicked offering different faith prayers standing side by side.
Hello @TwitterIndia @Twitter , you have become a medium to spread misinformations and hatred.

How long will you allow this ? https://t.co/oUwjZWiijw
There's no one like #ShahRukhKhan. There won't ever be. Your hatred makes us love and respect him even more. Shame on you! https://t.co/xkCMI2Tbek

never mind it is a time of mourning. 2.
A touching gesture of blowing a dua (prayer) by SRK deliberately being misinterpreted as spitting.

Ignorance and malice. The largest statue of equality can’t help this deliberate hate. https://t.co/8ZZllqlBw5
No SRK didn't spit but you guys are as usual spitting venom.

Shah Rukh Khan said a prayer for Lata Mangeshkar’s at her funeral
— Reema Omer (@reema_omer) February 6, 2022
A number of accounts - many associated with the BJP - started an Islamophobic campaign to suggest he was “spitting”
Just another illustration of how far some people can stoop in their hate and division https://t.co/wrf4zbrn2b
I just knew that the moment Shah Rukh Khan makes a public appearance, these hooligans will jump him. He can't even read dua for a legendary singer without being vilified. How exactly do y'all say such things and not be absolutely ashamed of yourselves? Sigh.

When Shahrukh sneezes, right wing catches a cold.

It’s just crazy @iamsrk is still residing in #India. Guy has always been a true patriot but without lot of noise and show.

Those are the ones who change the world, one day at a time.
