Big starrer movies may not be coming out in theaters this Pongal, but Rajinikanth starrer Annaatthe is gearing up to grace the Tamil TV screens. Sun TV has announced that the world television premiere of Annaatthe will be aired on their channel on January 14, 2022 at 6: 30 PM.

The announcement comes at a time when uncertainty looms over the fate of movie theaters in Tamil Nadu. Cinema halls, which are currently operating at 50% seating capacity with no night and sunday shows currently face the threat of being completely shut down due to rising COVID-19 / Omicron cases in the state. 

Annaatthe directed by Siva is an action-drama also starring Nayanthara, Keerthy Suresh, Khushbu, Meena among an ensemble of other actors. The movie has D. Imman for music.
