Actor Suriya recently donated Rs. 1 Cr. to Pazhankudi Irular Education Trust in the presence of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and the cheque from Suriya, Jyotika and the CM was received by retired Justice K Chandru and members of the welfare community. Suriya's gesture comes ahead of the release of his film Jai Bhim, where he portrays a character inspired by K Chandru and enacts a story faced by the former justice in his real life.

Praising the movie and Suriya's generous gesture, Chief Minister MK Stalin released a statement saying, "Watched Jai Bhim yesterday. Memories of the movie left me with a heavy heart all night..You people have proved that there is no better way to film and portray the struggles faced by the Irular community. Though it is a film based on a particular incident, the impact it made among the viewers is powerful.”

Praising Suriya, the CM further added, "You have showed how law and justice could wash away any kind of misery..Suriya deserves appreciation for choosing, acting and producing a product like this”. Thanking the CM for his kind words, Suriya went on to tweet,

"I stand motionless without words. The Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu's heartfelt appreciation has fulfilled the purpose of the Jay Bhim film. Heartfelt thanks to our Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on behalf of all the Jay Bhim crew."

 

Jai Bhim is an investigative court-room thriller directed by TJ Gnanavel that also stars Manikandan, Lijo Mol Jose, Prakash Raj, Rajisha Vijayan among others. The movie releases on Amazon Prime Video on November 2, 2021.
