Actor Jayam Ravi who plays the titular character in Mani Ratnam's upcoming magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan, has updated that he has completed shooting for both parts of the movie. Taking to twitter, Ravi thanked Mani Ratnam for the experience and squeezed in a birthday wish for his mother in the process.

Ponniyin Selvan was also in the news for a leaked image from the sets. A snap of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Nandhini, the main antagonist of the period drama is currently being shared widely on the internet. 

Ponniyin Selvan comes with an ensemble of stars and both parts of the movie were shot simultaneously. Ponniyin Selvan 1 is scheduled to release in 2022 and Lyca Productions, Madras Talkies is yet to announce an official release date.
