Actress Gouri Kishan who has portrayed period characters in films like 96 (2018) and Karnan (2021), will now be seen in another period film, but this time as the sole lead. Based on the book Oru Kottukku Veliye (Beyond a Line) by Su. Samuthiram, the film Gouri is a part of has been titled Ulgammai and is being shot near Tirunelveli.

Ulgammmai is directed by Vijay Prakash and is themed around caste discrimination and the fight of a lone crusader. The film has Ilayaraja for music.
