Director Gokul of Rowthiram (2011), Idarkuthane Aasaipataai Balakumara (IAK), Kaashmora (2016) and Junga (2018) fame is returning with a film titled Corona Kumar, which is touted to be a satire based on the Coronavirus COVID-19 situation. The title reveal and a promo video release for the movie were done recently and it has been announced that the movie has been made in a 'spin-off style'.

The lead character Sumar Moonji Kumar (SMK) from the Vijay Sethupathi starrer 2013 film IAK will be featured in Corona Kumar, which is expected to go on floors once the Tamil Nadu government allows film shootings. The movie will revolve around how SMK finally decides to do something with his life but is faced with restrictions due to a pandemic instead.
