Tamil Film Industry gets the nod for beginning post-production work!

Following the Malayalam film industry, Kollywood has now been given the nod to carry on post-production work of films by the Tamil Nadu state governmen, starting May 11, 2020. If on may recall, it was only recently that Tamil film industry players had appealed to the state government for permission to work.

They had said that for over 50 continuous days, post-production works of more than 50 Tamil films had been stalled and they sought permission on the lines of the one given to 11 other industrial sectors. While the Kerala state government had come up with strict rules for post-production, the Tamil Nadu government has proposed the following:

  1. For Editing, dubbing, sound designing/ mixing re-recording and DI - A maximum of 5 people can work.
  2. For VFX/CGI - 10- 15 people can work.
  3. Production houses need to apply for permission with details of workers who will be carrying out the work.
  4. Workers need to maintain social distancing, wear masks and sanitize themselves.
  5. Production house also needs to follow the rules put in place by the Central government for work places during COVID-19.
