It was September, 2019 that we had first reported that producer Boney Kapoor has acquired the Tamil remake rights of Anubhav Sinha's Article 15, which is a critically acclaimed film starring Ayushmann Khurrana. Now, it is being said that actor Udhayanidhi Stalin has been finalized for reprising Ayushmann's role of a high-rank police officer who is posted to a rural area with caste divide problems. 

It is also being said that Kanaa director Arunraja Kamaraj will be directing the Tamil version; An official confirmation on the same is however awaited. It is worth mentioning here that back in September, among the various Tamil actors who were associated with the remake, Ajith's was a prominent name alongside Dhanush's.
