Back in December, there was a strong buzz that director A.R. Murugadoss was one of the contenders for Thalapathy 65 starrring actor Vijay. However this information was refuted by several 'sources' and now once again Murugadoss' name is being associated with the coveted project. 

Director Sudha Kongara's name too was earlier associated closely with Thalapathy 65 until it came out that Vijay was waiting for the release of Kongara's upcoming release Soorarai Pottru, to take a call on the collaboration. Now, with the buzz going around it almost seems like Murugadoss has been finalized as the director of Thalapathy 65. 

An official confirmation on the same is however awaited. It is worth mentioning here that Sun Pictures is the banner most likely to produce Thalapathy 65 with an official announcement awaited on this as well.
