Mani Ratnam's magnum opus-in-the-making, Ponniyin Selvan had its first official release today and the title font poster of the movie was unveiled, along with the names of the technical team involved in the project. While the poster confirmed the ongoing shooting of the film, it left people hanging once again on the status of the film's lyricist. [Earlier Vairamuthu who was named in the #MeToo movement was said to be removed from the project, official confirmation pending].

Vairamuthu's name has not been listed in the poster, though he had earlier claimed to have penned 12 songs for the two-part film. Ponniyin Selvan, which is based on Tamil novel by Kalki, is jointly scripted by Mani Ratnam and actor-writer Kumaravel. The star cast of this film includes Aishwarya Rai, Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, among others.
